The Federal Government recently announced its in-principal support of a Productivity Commission recommendation for Emergency Service Organisations (ESO) to adopt public safety mobile broadband. This conversation will explore strategies for enabling this, including the latest in integration strategies to move from land mobile radio to mobile broadband for mission critical ESO communications.

Alex Stefan
National General Manager, Government and Public Safety & Security, Telstra

Alex Stefan is the National General Manager for Government and Public Safety & Security in the Telstra Corporation. Based in Brisbane, Alex is responsible for overseeing Telstra’s customers in federal, state, and local government including the public safety and security agencies. An industry veteran with over twenty five years’ experience, Alex has held various senior executive leadership roles in Government. Prior to joining Telstra, Alex spent eight years as the Chief Information Officer for the Department of Emergency Services (DES) Queensland, which included the Queensland Ambulance Services (QAS), the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) and Emergency Management Queensland (EMQ). Earlier, Alex spent 11 years in senior management roles at the Queensland Police Service. Alex holds a Bachelor of Science from Griffith University. He is also a Fellow of the Australian Computer Society and Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management.

Paula Rujak
General Manager, Network Technology & Innovation, Telstra

Paula has 20+ experience in Engineering, commercial and people leadership roles across numerous technology & innovation areas, from JV partnerships, to technology strategy development and innovating new products. Paula has a passion for creating and driving growth businesses, underpinned by understanding her customers, strategic thinking and the ability to attract, retain and grow. Paula is responsible for the identification, assessment and recommendation of network and device technology to drive innovation across Networks to maintain Telstra's network leadership. She has led many technology developments including the use of mobile broadband for Public Safety Agencies and Enterprises, known as the Telstra LANES strategy.

Kevin Noonan
Global Lead Analyst for Government, Ovum

Kevin Noonan is the global Lead Analyst for Ovum research in the government sector. His primary areas of focus are digital government, technology leadership, public safety strategy. He is well known internationally for his work as a guest speaker, media commentator, consultant and senior executive mentor. Prior to becoming an analyst, Kevin spent 28 years as a senior executive and CIO, and project director in government.
